Nigel qualified as a Chartered Surveyor having been awarded an Honours Degree in Estate Management at the University of Reading in 1977. He became a Fellow of the RICS in 1990 and was elected as a member of the RICS Presidents Panel of Experts and Arbitrators in 1996. It was the same year that he established Humberts Commercial (Yeovil) Ltd having previously been a Partner of Humberts Chartered Surveyors. More recently, his practice has been operating within the Chesterton Humberts Group.
Nigel established Chesters Commercial in 2014, the company having evolved from his former company.Nigel heads the office and advises landowners, developers, landlords and occupiers on a diverse range of property matters. He specialises in valuation issues relating to strategic development land, site disposal/assembly and viability.
With an enviable client list, Nigel provides development consultancy advice to a diverse range of companies including property developers, house builders and landowners.In addition Nigel regularly receives appointments throughout the UK from the RICS as an Arbitrator or Independent Expert on complex development land issues including viability and Section 106 negotiations. He also regularly acts as an Expert Witness on significant negligence claims in development land matters.
